Perfect for beginners or anyone looking for a refresher, this class introduces the fundamentals of American Mah Jongg in a fun, supportive setting.
You’ll learn tile recognition, how to read the National Mah Jongg League Card (NMJL), proper game setup, the Charleston, basic gameplay, and table etiquette - followed by guided, hands-on play to build your confidence.

This class is designed for those who have completed Mah Jongg 101 and are ready to build confidence and strategy. We’ll review key fundamentals from the beginner course, dive deeper into the new 2026 NMJL card, including hand selection and rules.
You’ll also strengthen your Charleston strategy, learn defensive play techniques, understand when to pivot your hand, and explore advanced joker usage-all through guided, hand on play.

Guided Play Sessions are designed for players who already know the basics of American Mah Jongg and want more practice in a supportive, fun environment.
During these sessions, you’ll play real games while receiving guidance, strategy tips, and helpful feedback along the way. We’ll focus on improving your knowledge of the NMJL Card rules , defensive play, Charleston decisions, and hand selection, and overall confidence — all while enjoying relaxed social play with other players at a similar level.
